Hi, I’m John!

I’m a wedding photographer based in Melbourne and Auckland, capturing celebrations wherever they take me.

My love of photography started with landscapes. In 2017, I borrowed my aunt’s dusty old camera and took it with me on hikes in search of a good view. I loved being outdoors, chasing good light, and experiencing the quiet, beautiful moments that only ever happen once, but also being able to capture and preserve them.

I didn't really think it was possible to turn photography into a career. After graduating, I worked in finance for a few years, but it never quite felt right, as if I was going through the motions and waiting for something better. One day after getting home from work, my wife Claire suggested that instead of trying to force myself to enjoy finance, I should give wedding photography a go. I started by photographing a few weddings for friends in my spare time, and I've never looked back!

I’ve been full-time since the end of 2025, and it still feels a bit surreal that I'm working my dream job and I get to be part of such a big, joyful day in people’s lives. It’s a hugely special thing to be trusted with something so meaningful, and to capture memories that people will treasure for years to come.

On a wedding day, I’m generally calm and low-key. I won’t drag you away from your friends and family for hours or turn things into a movie production. I let things unfold naturally and quietly document it, while making sure you feel comfortable along the way.

Outside of weddings, I still love going out for a hike and finding a good view, now with my very own camera! Since moving to Melbourne from New Zealand at the start of 2026, I’ve been enjoying exploring new places and finding hidden gems to photograph. I’m also a big fan of good coffee during my morning editing sessions, and Melbourne doesn't disappoint!

Behind the scenes, my wife Claire keeps everything running. She looks after a lot of the admin, design, and all the bits in between, helping make the whole experience smooth from start to finish. Even if I'm the one who you'll see on our calls and emails, it’s very much a team effort! She's the best co-founder, employee, and supporter I could ever ask for.
